Have you got the best idea ever for a business, but no idea where to start? Are you tired of your day job? Do you want to turn your passion into a profitable career?
For over 7 years I have been running my own performing arts company which I set up alone with nothing but my determination and a plan.
Today I am still entirely self-employed. My company isn’t a “side-hustle” or a passion project, it’s my sole career. But getting here wasn’t a linear path. I made a lot of mistakes and learnt lessons the hard way. But I came out of it all an expert in how to set up as a freelancer, and run a small business. Now I want to pass on that expertise to you.
I can show you how to get your business established with a long term plan in the most efficient, easy, and enjoyable way, with a coaching plan tailored for exactly your needs.
“But I have no money!”
I hear you.
I know how difficult it is to justify spending money at the beginning of setting up a business, and sometimes, your circumstances might mean you would rather muddle through and figure it out yourself – I know, because this is what I did!
I also know that more startups fail than succeed (estimates I have seen is that 90% of startups fail), and one of the reasons I was able to push through that statistic, is because I had a bigger privilege than most in regard to understanding businesses, because – to throw myself head-first into a cliche – it’s in my blood.
To be a little less poetic, my family is full of self employed people and business owners, and so I grew up with business talk all around me – even if I didn’t realise it at the time – my whole life had been training me to be self employed.
My History / It’s In My Blood
My parents set up their own web design and development business in 1999, when I was 8 years old – and let me tell you, they took a risk! There were many people who told them it wouldn’t work, because the internet wasn’t going to be sticking around! I remember the first few years they worked from home, and had an employee quite early on, who worked from my Dad’s study. He would be there when I got home from school, and we’d say hi to each other – and then, 10 years later, aged 19, I started working for my parents business – alongside that same employee who had known me since I was 9!
My grandparents on my mum’s side ran a newsagents when my mum was little, and my Grandma is a published author, with 21 books, and a myriad of articles and short stories.
My Aunt is a poet, and my Uncle is an artist.
My eldest cousin is a fantastic brand consultant working in London with her own company.
My second cousin is a singer/songwriter.
So as you can see – I’m not just a business person – I’m a family business person, and this is a quality I bring to all of my businesses.
Along with this, I have always had a brain for business. When I was 8, I set up a hair plaiting business because my friends all wanted their hair like mine, and I knew how to do it. The image here is my “business plan” that I found in my summer diary from when I was 8 years old!
My private students, my company group members, and the practitioners who work with me – are my family. I invest in them as people, and am given the privilege of being a part of their personal growth. Whether that is a 12 year old, a teenager, a young adult, or someone older than myself – everyone always has something new to learn throughout life (including me!) and I adore being a part of all of their lives.
“No but really – I have no money”
I also know, there’s probably a lot of people reading this saying “well it’s alright for you, but I literally don’t have any money”. To those of you saying that, I hear you, and I know how that feels.
The whole reason I started business coaching is to help those who feel like they’ll never be able to achieve their dreams, because of circumstances. So, please, reach out and talk to me.
Despite the phrase “money makes the world go round”, I know there are other ways to do business. In the past I have offered payment plans, percentage of profit agreements, special offers for particular situations or ideas, and, one of my favourites – energy exchanges.
If you are serious about your dream, then so am I, and we will find a way to make it work.
So here is what I ask of you: invest in yourself, to allow me to invest in you.
